Tuesday 4th June Rame Head

A beautiful sunny morning and a coastal walk, for a change, starting from the car park near the Cremyll ferry at Mount Edgcumbe. A much longer walk today

Looking across to Drake's Island.

We took the footpath towards Empacombe.

The best time of the year for the hedgerows and wild flowers

In the field above us Canada Geese had just landed.

We followed the footpath up towards Pigshill Woods.

Much discussion about the cause of the dug up turf - looked a bit like wild boars but was it badgers?

Into the woods and bluebells.

Maker church.

Just along the ridge a good view of the Breakwater and Great Mew Stone.

Cawsand came into view...

...and the beach below.

Unusually for us a change of route.  The plan had been to follow the road out to Rame and Rame Head but we decided to follow the coastal path to Penlee Point.

At Penlee Point looking towards Rame Head.

After two and half hours we stopped for lunch just below the Lookout Station with the chapel on Rame Head in front of us.

Watching the Royal Navy on exercise...

...and a new Princess Yacht undergoing sea trials.

We headed back to Cawsand along the same route as we had come out.

There was a kestral hovering above us almost motionless in the strong wind.

Plymouth came into view.

On through Kingsand....

...with its narrow streets.

The coast path is just behind this wall and behind that is a fairly significant coastal slip.  We were surprised that the health and safety police had not closed this off!

We followed the coast path almost to Picklecombe Point and then took this very steep path up to the Deer Park.

Back to the other side of Maker Church where students were having fun on ropes in the trees.

Below us a super view of the bridges going over the Tamar.

Then back to the cars past Mount Edgcumbe House.

With Terry, Rosemary, and Charlie.
