Tuesday 13th September Bellever Forest

A gentle walk with a mixed bag of weather.

Postbridge at 10:00 in the morning was a hive of activity - two coaches with tourists and lots of school children out to do some field work.

We took the main track out to Belliver Tor - past a recently fallen tree.

The forecast was for heavy showers and for once it was accurate!

Then out onto the open moor with a buzzard in the distance.

Up to the top of Bellever Tor

 - looking across to Laughter Tor...

 ...across to Rippon Tor..

..towards Fernworthy and Sittaford Tor

Down the track to the gate.  In the wall two old granite gateposts.

Then up to the top of Laugher Tor - looking back to Bellever tor..

...over to Yar Tor

...towards the sheep enclosure

With bright sunshine it was time to take off some of the waterproofs.

An old cross forms the base of the wall just here.

Past Laughter Hole farm and along the track to Bellever.

On the home stretch now and bright sunshine - so we all removed our waterproofs coats - only to put them back on again 5 minutes later because of another heavy shower!

Back to Postbridge and The East Dart Hotel for lunch - full with yet another coach party.

Walking today Bud, Brian, Charlie, Terry and Rosemary.
