Tuesday 9th August - The Three Reservoirs

New Territory for everyone - the three adjacent reservoirs north east of Lustleigh.  Another beautiful summers day.  A long drive and a very narrow road from the main road to the car park.

Trenchford Reservoir is the first adjacent to the car park.  We followed the footpath through the trees before coming to...

..the long foot bridge but with water levels very low there was only grass below.

Over the road and our first view of Tottiford Reservoir - this is the one with the lowest level of water.

Half way along there is the Causeway a bridge which goes over the Reservoir

Then on to Kennick Reservoir - this has the most water and is reserved for anglers only.  No adjacent footpaths for walkers - apparently walkers might disturb the fish!

Now for a loop around the woods, past Clampit house but no sign of Jed and past this old burial ground.

Through a tunnel of trees...

...and eventually back to the reservoir reserved for the anglers.

Finally back through the woods to the cars and on to...

....The Cleave at Lustleigh where everyone had croque-monsieur and enjoyed the warm sunshine.

Walking today Rosemary, Terry, Harry, Roger, Carol, Charlie and Linda

  1. I find it amazing there is always a pub at the end of the walk. I think its just good planning :).
