Saturday 14th September Bellever Tor and Laughter Tor

A family walk today setting off from Postbridge taking the track up to Bellever Tor. A lovely sunny morning.

Bellever Tor in the distance.

Looking back

On Bellever Tor.

The view across to Laughter Tor...

...and the view back to Bellever Tor

On top of Laughter Tor

With Linda, James, Jess and George.   Jess decide that this was her favourite walk so far!

Tuesday 30th July Dunnabridge Pound (again!)

Good to have Colin and Amber back with us.  Off up the same track as last week.  Heavy rain at first but soon it calmed down.

We headed towards Laughter Tor - Bellever Tor in the distance.

The view across to Fernworthy Forest.

On the top of Laughter Tor...

Amber and Colin try the wortle berries.

Down to the track by Laughter Hole Farm and along to Bellever...

...and back into the forest - now humid and sticky.

Through the trees, into the clearing and...

...back over Bellever Tor.

Looking back down the middle.

On to the cars and the usual excellent lunch in the Prince of Wales.

With Charlie, Brian, Colin, Amber and Roger and Chris in the pub.

Wednesday 18th July Bellever

Another glorious evening, clear views, dry underfoot and hot.

Some people do and some people don't and clearly David does!

Out through the woods and into the grassy bit than runs between.

Bellever Tor comes into view.

The path up is usually wet and muddy - but not today dry and dusty and a very pleasant change

Towards Ter Hill...

...across to Laughter Tor

Then down around and back to the forest....

...and children having fun near the car park area.

Then back up the steeper bit - but what is the other side of the gate...

...a tiny and cute little foal!

We stopped at the appointed place to listen for the Night Jars before returning to Postbridge...

...with the moon coming up between the trees.

With John, Charles, David, Anne and Mike

Wednesday 28th November Cherrybrook Bridge

A cold crystal clear night and bright moon. Up into the forest and across to Bellever.  Along the track to Laughter Hole Farm and up to Laughter Tor.  Then the muddy bit over to Bellever Tor before joining the track we started on.

With John, Jon, Irving, Mike Tom and Pete

Wednesday 7th November Dunnabridge Pound

A grey sort of morning as we set off from Dunnabridge Pound. John gave details of the mining activities...

...and we headed up to the sheep fold just before Laughter Tor

Across to Bellever Tor.

Then in to where the trees used to be as it got a bit brighter.

Back towards Bellever Tor...

...to admire the view.

Looking back at Laughter Tor.

A little toad on route...

...and before we knew it we were back at the pub.  With Tom, John, Jon, Mike, Anne, Ian, Helen and Bill

Tuesday 2nd October Bellever Forest

Three of us today with four of the team on holiday.  A mixed bag of weather - better than forecast with just one shower before the heavier rain later in the day.

Starting from Dunnabridge Pound just inside the gate is a canopied seat made from a large piece of granite.  It is believed that this was moved from Crockern Tor where it had previously been used as a table at meeting of the Stannary Parliament.

We walked across to Laughter Tor...

...just before is this large standing stone.

From Laugher Tor towards Bellever Tor...

...and nearby you can see where an old cross used in the wall

Two military helecopters were buzzing around and below us - now thats a real job.

Down from Laugher Tor and back on to the track.

Then around to Bellever...

No cross roads here just a Y junction....

...and back to Bellever Tor...

...where we got a few glimpses of sunshine

 Towards Hamel Down...

...Princetown...

 ...and Fernworthy Forest

With Charlie and Brian and in the pub Bud and Brian.
