Tuesday 26th November Beardown Tor

A heavy frost and a bright start. Starting at Two Bridges.

In along the footpath which follows the Cowsic River.

Just below Beardown Farm.

Through the woods on Beardown Hill

Sonny didn't want to go through the gap in the gate.

On to Beardown Tor - the military were firing on the nearby range and the flag was up to warn against going into the range area.

We stood on top with the flag above us.

The view across the valley to Longaford Tor - with Higher White Tor in the far distance.

Down to...

...the weir (which was icy in places) to cross the West Dart River...

...and then back up again to...

...Higher White Tor to follow the ridge line back.

By now the sky had clouded over...

...as we returned to the cars.

With Terry, Rosemary, Brian, Roger, Chris and good to have Charlie with us again on a day off.  In the pub was Bud, Brian, Chris and a lovely little puppy called Frank!

Wednesday 16th January Longaford Tor

Much colder today as we set off from the car park at Two Bridges

Tuesday 16th October Beardown Tors

A cool strong wind and lots of sunshine.

Starting from Two Bridges - this is one of them.

Up through Beardown Farm and an area set a side from farm stuff no longer required - some of it has been here for a long time.

Up to the ridge line and a view across to Higher White Tor and Longaford Tor.

There are three large tors which make up Beardown Tors and we decided to visit them all - this shows the most northerly with Crow Tor in the distance.

 Now on the most northerly looking towards West Dart River.

Sunday 20th May Crow Tor

Starting from Two Bridges and along the footpath that leads to Beardown Farm.

Through the woods and on to the open moor.

To Beardown Tors which are three large granite outcrops.

Lydford Tor in the distance. A typical 'Dartmoor' day with hill fog that was slow to clear.

Onwards toward Connies Down Tor.  My picnic today beside this lovely little waterfall on the Cowsic River.

...to Devils Tor (182) and the Standing Stone known as Beardown Man - about 2.5 metres high.

Next a short walk to Rough Tor (183) - which is totally spoilt by the range huts and then to...

...Crow Tor (184) with the three tors of Beardown Tor in the background.

Across the valley with this convenient island which made the river crossing easy and up to...

...Lower White Tor (185) - at last the sun had come out.

The route back past Longaford Tor and Littaford Tor.

Finally Little Bee Tor (187) - if you are coming the other way this is the first granite outcrop after the style and  most would regard this as a part of Littaford Tors.
