Tuesday 31st May Ugborough Beacon

First the long and winding road and then the very, very narrow road and eventually you get to Harford Moor Gate. Just 4 of us today and so we set of past the reservoir and up to the old tramway.

Along this for a short while and then up and across to Western Beacon with fantastic views across Ivybridge..

...and then towards Plymouth.

Next back to the top of Butterton Hill (with Three Barrows and Sharp Tor in the background)...

..and then over to Crebers Rock

Western Beacon from Ugbourough Beacon

From here we could see the sea by Torbay and just make out a large ship.

East towards Brent Hill - above South Brent

From here we headed to Spurrell's Crosss to rejoin the tramway to take
us to Three Barrows for lunch.

From Three Barrows you could see Rippon Tor in the far distance.

After lunch on to the pool next to Leftlake Mires

To start the return trip.  Just along the track we came upon a heard of cows.  It soon became clear that they didn't like Huxley and he didn't like them!  All we wanted to do was get past but this was their territory and they were not going to give it up easily.

Eventually after much complaining and moo..ing they moved off to the right to let us past.  We continued back to the cars and they continued moo..ing

The view up the Erme valley

Walking today Terry, Rosemary and Linda.
